We pride ourselves in being totally sensitive to preserving prosperity where possible and instead of stripping these engines for core, we’re selling them off as they are. So if you are missing a period correct part for your restoration, check out our eBay listings for various vintage VW engines …
The first here is a 1968-on 40bhp single port 1600cc unit with barrels and heads and some ancillaries. It’s not in great condition, but does turn over by hand so there might be some salvageable parts. The engine number B 0046976 suggests it will fit a 1968-’70 Bay and it appears to have a bus exhaust fitted. Buy it now for £295 or make an offer…
Now this is interesting. It’s a ex-industrial 34bhp 1200cc single port engine block with barrels and heads and some industrial ancillaries. The engine isn’t numbered but is period correct for a 1965-on Bug. See more about it here.
Here’s another 34bhp 1200cc single port with barrels, heads and various ancillaries including carb, dynamo, dizzy and various bits of important and tricky to get tinware. The engine number is 5891965, which is period correct for a 1961 Beetle. It turns over by hand but little is known of its history otherwise. We’re asking £345, but feel free to make an offer. You can see the full listing here.
Finally, check out this 30bhp short engine block with barrels and heads. Again, it’s in poor condition – but it could just hold the missing genuine part for your engine rebuild. The engine number 3956044 indicates that it’s a very late unit, and will fit a pre-1961 Beetle, split screen bus or van. Because there’s no flywheel or bottom pulley, we haven’t attempted to turn it over… You can buy this one now for £175. Find out more here.
