Blogging good!

If you’re constantly being quizzed about the progress of an ongoing project or the health of your Dub fleet, why not save yourself a whole load of hassle and update everyone on your own blog? Well, that’s precisely what VW Heritage customer Christian Tracey did and he’s already getting hundreds of views by folk keen to find out the latest on his spanner spinning shenanigans…

The journey for Christian began back in May 2013 when he bought his first Beetle, a 1968 Peru Green 1500. “I saw the appeal of cheap insurance and also the quirkiness of driving around in something a bit different to most teenagers.” Since then, the rest of his family have decided to follow suit with his father buying a Beetle and 2014 seeing the arrival of two more Bugs in the form of a ’75 1200 and a silver Last Edition.

The idea of starting a blog, says Christian, was prompted by a number of factors, “It was really to document and diary the progress of our projects from day one but also to inject a bit of fun and inspire young Beetle enthusiasts by being informative, but at the same time not too technical.”

It goes without saying that he does all the work on his cars himself, with his father on hand to help out if necessary. “I have restored three of the four Bugs so far, including my own, my dad’s and our 1200 stock restoration project which is now looking for another home,” quips Christian. “My 1500 has been revamped entirely inside and out, going for a red and cream interior, while my dad’s 19070 1300 has also undergone a similar treatment with many wonderful accessories included on it.” And, of course, we’ve been there supplying all the necessary bits and pieces along the way. “I’ve bought numerous parts from you guys, thanks to the locality of the store and the quality of the products, ranging from TMI seat covers for high back front seats right down to balljoints.”

The next project, confirms Christian, is to restore the silver Last Edition in time for Stanford Hall which, we have to say, is likely to be no mean feat given that it’s on Sunday May 4th. But even such a tight deadline doesn’t phase blog happy Christian. “I love challenges, so I am looking forward to getting the Bug up to the show and on the Last Edition stand at the show.”

Apart from that, he admits he’s always on the look out for unloved and unwanted Beetles. “I’d like another project for this year and I am really hoping to find a rust ’67 to restore back to its former glory!”

So far feedback to the site has been nothing less than incredible. “Visitors are loving the way I write and document my stories and making each project a little character on my site. They are also loving the photos and have asked for even more!”

Intrigued? Well, go and take a look for yourselves at what he’s been up to recently here.
