BusFest by Anna.

This year was a first for me, having been to British Volkswagen Festival at the same venue on previous years, but making my inaugural visit to van heaven – aka BusFest!

The campsite was jammed packed, every plot had been taken up, each housing a little community of friends sitting round BBQ’s sharing stories and drinks ’till the early hours.  Personally, we were a little jealous being in the minority spending our night under canvas; bad luck dictated our “bed chairs” wouldn’t fit in the back of our T4, so my pet Great Dane took the van, and we had a tent!

The atmosphere could be considered electric, as clichéd as it sounds. There is a feel good vibe that seems to be installed in everyone on site – perhaps it’s in the water?! It really is a show for anyone, of any age. Young and old rub shoulders, and families are out in force with pet dogs a common place.

Saturday was really busy, the weather was on side at last and the whole place was buzzing. Parts traders such as ourselves were mixing it up with fruit + veg sellers, clothes retailers, party purveyors and even a dog accessories stall! Grab your glow sticks, and get ready for the evenings entertainment. Whether you join in the main party in the halls, or do your own thing round a camp fire you are almost guaranteed a good time.

Sunday felt quieter to me, perhaps the Saturday night had taken its toll on some of the show goers. It offered some time to get to look round the display vehicles, camera in hand of course! This year a special line up of Syncro models took pride of place; I’ve never seen so many all at once! It’s not all buses though, there were a few Bugs to catch the eye too.

The journey home is almost a pleasure, passing some lovely vans en route. Will I be back again next year? For sure, if you’re a Bus lover,  this one should be in the calendar already!
