This is Anna’s Mk2 Golf VR6, a long term project. Having been featured by Golf + magazine a few years back, you could be fooled into thinking that her car is finished.. it’s not that simple as most of you know!!
Although it spends its winter tucked up in the garage, the Golf is due for a makeover this year, so lets see what Anna has planned!
The Holy grail for those running Mk2’s with wide wheels, this is just what Anna’s Golf needs! Running 8’s and 9 inch BBS RM’s these might go some of the way to keeping the tyres under cover!
G60 Top mounts are a great upgrade for anyone running coilover suspension on their Mk2 Golf. Factor in the additional weight of the VR6 engine and they are almost essential to keeping things in working order.
Continuing with the steering and suspension upgrades, Powerflex’s front wishbone kit has been added to Anna’s list too, this should keep things nice and tight at the bottom of the front suspension.
If it’s not the starter motor playing up and needing a tickle with a hammer, it will be the battery in the boot is flat as a pancake, making entering the car (with no door handles) a little tricky! Probably a good idea to get a new one then Anna!!
Following the current trend for steering wheels smaller than your speakers, Anna, like Raef has picked out the Momo Team 280mm wheel. A well made steering wheel, that will last you a lifetime – take it car to car, just be sure to keep your old one to replace it with! Ask about boss kits if you are unsure.
Another well proven upgrade for the Golf Mk2. Eibach have been making these kits for what seems like forever, and they still can’t be beaten! A well considered choice to round out Anna’s dream wish list.
