Blazing sunshine, 1/4 mile sprint, and more Watercooled VAG cars than you can wave a stick at!
Myself, James V and Anna took a weekend trip to Leicestershire for the 23rd annual GTI International show; originally created for the Golf GTi owner, it has now become a home for performance Audi, Seats and Skoda’s too.
Based on the ex US Airbase, there are vehicles of interest left, right and centre before the show even starts. Hundreds of un sold cars, vans, lorries line the edges of the runways and link roads and a number of old planes have been left to nature around the site.
We got into the spirit of the show, camping behind our stand, which is definitely the best way to enjoy this weekend. The Gas BBQ that James brought from home was a fine touch and meant we weren’t held to ransom for hot food from the ‘wagons.
Walking the campsite in the evening, chatting to people and admiring their cars..then catching up with them the next day, when their hangover had kicked in was all part of the fun. Thanks to all those who came and said hi, it is good to put faces to names.
Atchoo…. did i mention i get hayfever?
Here are a few highlights.. and a link to Flickr for your perusal.
See you soon
