VW sheds; creating the perfect man/woman cave!

We all crave a bit of space sometimes, and where better to spend time out than in a VW themed shed? Well, here are some ideas to create that perfect place to escape…

Whether you’ve got a shed already or need to start from scratch to make your ideal garden getaway, there’s loads of ways you can give it some cool, Dub appeal – and it needn’t cost a fortune, as Jo Gosling from Pear Tree Weddings, who entered Channel 4’s Amazing Spaces Shed of the Year competition, confirms…

“We inherited an old spider infested, unused and unloved shed when we bought our house nearly ten years ago and have spent just a couple of hundred pounds refurbishing it.”

It now serves as the HQ of Jo’s business, Pear Tree Weddings, a leading vintage and classic VW campervan and Beetle wedding car hire service. The firm’s fleet includes five split screen buses and a Beach Buggy.

Kevin Smith from Oregon took a slightly different approach when he spotted a ’73 Bay window bus in a breaker’s yard. Instead of going down the restoration route, over a period of three months Kevin converted the discarded bus into a timber-clad chicken coup/ shed /greenhouse (below). Talk about the ultimate in recycling…

Fins always have fun, and this VW bus from Finland serves as a secret sauna – although we’re not sure about net curtains in the windscreen – and we hope the van’s been rust-proofed…

And if you fancy something a bit more mobile, how about this road-legal VW shed based on a VW Passat V6 4Motion. With 200bhp, four-wheel drive, central locking and aircon, despite the fact that it weighs in at 2-tons, it’s still good for around 80mph according to the owner.

Now what more can you possibly want from a shed?
